Over on the Inevitable forums at BoardGame Geek, a player posted the following:

"If this is your first time playing, remove all the Groups except ACME, the Church, the Famous International Playboys, the Living Dead, and the Time Travelers. Distribute one of these randomly to each player, and give everyone a playing piece that corresponds to their Group."

Got it, but what if your first time playing involves 6 players?

This is a really good question.  Here's what I wrote as a response:

Wow! That's a great question. My knee-jerk reaction was to pick The Faces In The Crowd, but that's not a good choice, since half of their special power just isn't very good with that particular group mix.

UPS is a good pick, since they're not too complex to understand, are a strong group, and have fun synergy withACME.

I just read through the group list and the other good picks for a sixth group are The Child ProdigiesMafia, and Mental Patients. Including UPS in that mix, I'd pick The Child Prodigies if you're pretty experienced gamers. Otherwise, I'd pick the Mafia, since they're a combat group and will off-set the Living Dead well.

Great question!

Now, of course, none of these groups are available in the Free Demo version.  They're only available in the Standard and Deluxe sets.  If you're stuck with the Free Demo version and you really, really want to play with six players, I'd duplicate the Time Travelers.  Not only does their power duplicate well, without causing any odd cross-power interactions, but it's easy to metaphysically justify their duplication as a time-cloning incident.
